Valentino Rossi’s experimental gyro race camera has been stolen at Misano.

Whilst Rossi was celebrating his third place around the circuit he ran out of fuel and was promptly mobbed by thousands of VR46 fans.

Whilst most wanted to simply congratulate the star, some decided they wanted a little more and decided to make off with a memento in the shape of his rear mounted gyro camera.

One of Valentino Rossi’s technicians Alex Briggs, well known to racing fans via Twitter, took this photo and Tweeted about the incident:

“Remember the Gyro butt cam, Expensive, new & experimental….Gone! torn out by crowd when VR ran out of gas.” said Briggs.

“Don’t stress! I’m sure gyro butt cam will be back. We had 1 on 1 of our bikes & was 1 on JLs (Jorge Lorenzo’s) bike. We also sent seat off to b patched up.” read his second Tweet.
