The always excellent Mike Werner has just spotted this beauty over on his blog.
It turns out that the Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz movie Knight and Day, which features (and has been heavily promoted by and with) a Ducati Hypermotard, is actually just another Hollywood fakery stunt.
If you take a look at the photos below (click to embiggin) you can actually see that there’s some odd things about that there Ducati…namely that’s it not actually a Ducati. It’s an Aprilia!
How can we tell? Well the main give away are the words ‘Aprilia’ stamped across the engine block! There’s others, but really, do you need further proof?
The reasons for this aren’t clear but Mike (and we’d tend to agree) believes it’s that the Ducati just couldn’t cope with the stunts and was therefore changed for an Aprilia SXV550 made to look like a Ducati.
I wonder if Ducati and/or Aprilia know about this? Well they do now as we’ve asked them how they feel about it! Should we get a response, we’ll let you know!
