Bimota DB8
Bimota has revealed it’s DB8 biposto (two seat), 1198 sportsbike, instead of the, as expected, Ducati Streetfighter rival the world was expecting.
Bimota is aiming the DB8 as an entry level superbike with a price tag of around £20,000. They’ve managed to make it cheaper than the DB7 by using mostly plastic parts instead of the carbon fibre used on the DB7.
So, whereas the DB7 has carbon fibre bodywork, the DB8 will use plastic. Whereas the DB7 has a titanium exhaust, the DB8 will use steel, and the all carbon sub-frame of the DB7 has been replaced with an all aluminium one.
Bimota is aiming to sell 250 of the machines, which is a high seller in Bimota terms. The DB7 will still be made but with a 1098 Ducati motor and single seat congifuration.
Those of you who really wanted to see a bike to take on the Ducati Streetfighter then fret not as Bimota says they’ll still make one, it just won’t be called the DB8.
