Lambretta

What can be said that hasn’t already about the iconic Italian scooter manufacturer Lambretta? It’s said that out of the ruins of war, Ferdinando Innocenti (great name!) stood surveying the ruins of his heavily bombed steel tubing factory and, randomly, saw the future of cheap, private transport and decided to produce a scooter. Hard times came in the late 60’s as people turned to cars over bikes and in 1972 Lambretta closed, though not before British Leyland Motor Corporation briefly owned the company before they also closed. Today, Lambretta’s are manufactured by the Khurana group USA LLC under license from Scooters India Ltd and in 2010 Lambretta returned to MotoGP in the 125cc class.
