Kawasaki has determined that a potential safety problem exists on 2010 Z1000 and Z1000 ABS models (ZR1000DAF/DAS/EAF). Therefore, customers owning one of the mentioned models are urged to bring their bike to their dealer as soon as possible.

The possible problem may occur when the left front brake hose makes contact with the brake disc during extremely heavy braking. This can damage the hose leading to a fluid leak which could cause brake failure and result in an accident.

The repair consists of inspecting the front brake hose and replacing it if required. Additionally, the front brake hose position will be adjusted to prevent contact with the brake disc.

The inspection and adjustment will take around 15 minutes to complete, but up to one hour if the brake hose also needs to be replaced.

Kawasaki has sent letters to its distributors, dealers and customers, informing them of the possible problem.

Kawasaki apologises for any inconvenience caused, but feels it’s necessary to inform its customers with their safety and continued satisfaction with the Z1000 in mind.
